Lyman Enterprises, LLC — Our Story
Chapter 01
It started with a question most makers know well: what can I make with this thing? Taylor Lyman had a humble 5-watt laser engraver and a whole lot of curiosity. The machine wasn't much by industry standards — but in the right hands, it didn't need to be.
Around the same time, the Lyman family had fallen hard for Settlers of Catan, the beloved strategy board game that has a way of taking over game nights and dining room tables alike. The pieces were fun, but the thought crossed Taylor's mind: what if I built my own board?
“I thought — hey, I could build my own game board. I had no idea that single idea would lead to all of this.”
That first custom Catan board wasn't perfect. But it was theirs. Hand-cut hexagonal tiles, engraved terrain details, pieces shaped by laser light on wood — it was something no store shelf could offer. And it sparked something that hasn't stopped burning since.
Chapter 02
One board game became two. Two became gifts for friends and family. Each piece revealed a new possibility — a name engraved on a cutting board, a custom ornament, a portrait etched into maple. The laser doesn't just cut wood; it captures moments, personalizes the everyday, and turns raw material into something meaningful.
